It is only in recent memories that President’s Bush’s failed attempt at conquering Iraq put us behind 5 years financially, so what will Obama do differently to conquer the Middle East?
Conquer might seem like a strong word, but reality remains that the Middle East is the capitol of oil and no matter what you want to call it, all President’s know that the one to hold the most control over this uncontrollable region will be the one to call the shots, and gain major political ground with the world. So why has it been so difficult to stabilize the Middle East and its surroundings?
The problem with the Middle East is actually widespread through all regions; it is simply not one country or one region. The problem spreads through all the regions and is simpler than you think but fixing it is might be a tad harder.
The separation of church and state has enabled the United States to move towards democracy and govern itself around rules that are not faith based. The Middle East has yet to see such a change occur as religion seems to be used as a great mean to control all people and their actions. This last election in Iran clearly proves that democracy is non-existent in the middle-east. Despite the modernization of the center Iran, people’s voices are still left unheard. What can Obama do?
With increased pressure from the public for Obama to act in Iran, the President is left between a rock and a hard place. The problem in the middle-east is still not improving and is being once again resolved with violence. Obama’s choices are very limited at this time as well; you can only handle so many problems at once. We are faced with the end of the recession, along with existing forces being stretched thin between Iraq and Afghanistan makes it hard to take on mega-force Iran as well and therefore we have to rely on our allies overseas to help us win these battles, especially if military action is the only way to resolve this. Military action needs to be the last resort as it unfortunately is expensive and cannot be resolved in days but rather months, and with North Korea now tempting the world with its missile testing. Diplomatic talks need to happen and they need to happen fast.
The problem remains that despite the desire of some to come to the round table and discuss ways we can fix the world. There is too much hate from one to the others way of life and therefore no one wants to compromise, which means that people’s pride is the real problem. The real problem in the Middle East lies within the lack of desire to comply based on pride, many church leaders believe that they are above the world and should not answer to anyone and therefore must do what they want, and what is best for them, not compromise. They hide behind the idea that God made them superior and that anyone that sees the world differently is questioning god and faith and therefore has no reasoning.
This truly absurd way to see the world is the reason Obama will not be able to change the mindset needed to have unity and peace in the region. There will need to be significant change in leadership in the middle east for the real change to begin, and this folks is the exact reason people are dying on the streets of Iran, fighting for a re-count of this past election, which is why the republic of Iran feels it necessary to kill folks in the streets to discourage others from trying to seek freedom from dictatorship.
